GASTROSCOPY

A gastroscopy is a procedure used to examine the upper digestive tract (oesophagus, stomach, and duodenum). An endoscope is a long, thin, flexible tube containing a camera and light to view the lining of the organs. It allows the doctor to inspect these areas as well as perform specialised procedures such as biopsies. A gastroscopy is usually performed as day procedure in hospital.
